The Brief
Design of a minimalist, four bedroom house.
The Challenge
With no style limitation imposed by the estate, owners were allowed to build any style they wanted. This resulted in mostly South African Tuscan Style houses. With vehicle entry from the west, the site was close to ideal.
The Result
The house was rotated 45° to respond to corner rather than street entrance. This awarded beautiful views over the grasslands and allowed more rooms to have northern light. The house was designed to read as a series of interlinked cubes with windows and doors strategically punched in the open ends. Economic use of space allowed the designer to award the client all the items on his wish list without exceeding the desired floor space for the house.
This blank canvass will respond well to a variety of interior styles, making it a good investment for reselling later.
