The Brief

Construction of a five bedroom house in the prestigious Zevenwacht Wine Estate.

The Challenge

The project posed great logistical challenges. At the time of planning the client was in LA, USA , the site in Cape Town and the architects in Pretoria. Communication was of utmost importance.

Access to the site is from the East and the best views over the vineyards are west-facing.

The Result

A detailed site study was done to inform and educate the designers before planning commenced. Further in-depth discussions and design details were done via Skype and email. The resulting design spoke to both the client’s needs and the estate requirements while celebrating the beautiful surroundings.

The variety of spacious entertainment areas and five en-suite bedrooms were arranged in a H-shape plan , tilted at 15°. The result is a more intimate house that offers shaded views over the vineyards from 4 of the bedrooms and all entertainment areas.
