The Brief
Design and construction of world class bio-medical research facility.
The Challenge
Planning and accommodation for numerous departments of the Medical Faculty requiring state of the art laboratories, offices and lecture facilities. The 5 year construction period would demand a 3 Phase approach with the existing 1970’s Fissan building being refurbished systematically while remaining floors remain occupied and laboratories functional.
The Result
The bio-medical research facility at the Tygerberg Campus of Stellenbosch University boasts with world-class status. The concept is to redesign the current facility and add a new section of approximately the same size as the existing structure.
